A seminal article is one that initiates a new area of research or practice. It might propose a different way of thinking about and understanding a phenomenon. It might be a ground-breaking empirical study or theoretical paper. It is by its very nature an innovation. In all cases, it is a work that later scholars have built on. Your task is to reflect on course materials, your own research interests, and to identify a concept or construct that is part of the scholarly literature on leadership. Once you identify a particular construct, your charge is to trace that construct back to its original conception and to write a literature review that tracks the history of the construct from its introduction to the present.
