Given this factual statistic, it is clear that domestic violence has become one of the most dangerous threats affecting women today. In fact, domestic and sexual abuse continue to be a problem that plagues both men and women. This paper identifies one program that is attempting to build an awareness of the continuing threat and violence associated with domestic and sexual abuse. The Houston Area women Center (HWAC) provides individual and group counseling; and support services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The paper evaluates the HWAC program based on its long-standing history that suggests the center has been committed to efforts to end domestic abuse.
