There are many factors that influence sexual response and arousal in men and women that are broken down into three dimensions; biological, psychological,and sociocultural. The biological dimension can be described as a physical reaction to sexual stimulation such as sexual arousal and response. Physical touch such as kissing, hugging, holding, and touching may be sexually arousing. Once this happens, the body responses by releasing hormones causing an erection in the penis or clitoris from the arousal. The process of how this occurs is the biological aspect. These can be affected by many things like age, physical disabilities, injuries, or illness. Medication, drug, and alcohol are also affected sexual stimulation. The psychological dimensions is define to me as a mental feeling about one’s self or a partner. How one see themselves can affect ones sexual response andarousal. For example, if one thinks they gained weight, look old, or just not attractive anymore.
