Student Instructions
Students are to watch the video ‘Just a routine operation’. Drawing upon the video; concepts covered in the
unit; relevant literature; governing body websites; National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
(ACSQHC, 2017) and national clinical guidelines, students are to prepare a narrated presentation. The
presentation may be in powerpoint format or prezi format. The links to this resource are provided on the
LEO page in the Assessments tile.
Presentation:
• Each submission should be saved with the file name “HLSC604 Assessment; Surname; First Initial; and
student ID [e.g., HLSC604 Assessment 3 Smith R; ID number].
• Provide student name and ID in the header along with page numbers in the upper right hand corner on
every page of your assignment, not including title page.
• Each submission should include a title page including the unit code; your name and student number,
title of assignment, date submitted and word count. Page numbers should be in the upper right hand
corner on every page, except for the title page, which should not have a page number.
• Please use size 12 font Arial or Calibri and double line spacing throughout.
• Margins should be as follows: 2.54cm on all sides (top, bottom, left & right)
• A reference list should be provided and be on a separate page headed ‘References’ at the end of the
assessment.
• Appendices (if applicable) are attached after the reference list page.
• Students should maintain patient and staff confidentiality throughout. Breaches in confidentially will be
dealt with in accordance with hospital and university policies.
• The presentation should be referenced according to APA 6th edition referencing style.

This assessment provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of clinical governance
and the roles that open disclosure; risk management; reporting systems; professional standards; codes of
practice; and leadership and management have for the quality and safety of patient care delivery within the
healthcare sector.
