Early Childhood Education can be traced back to the mid 1800’s with the development of a private Kindergaten in a home. It was not until the 1920’s when in-depth studies of early childhood education began with Jean Piaget’s work in defining stages of development. In the 1960’s Head Start programs were developed with the help of Urie Bronfrenbrenner to prepare children for Kindergarten.
